How we invest in our employees: four Nest career journeys

At Nest, we pride ourselves on providing a working environment built around our people and their development. Our strong preference is to develop from within and you can see examples of this all over the company.
With this in mind, we asked four members of the team to discuss their journeys at Nest.

Luke Spencer
Account Director
“Before Nest, I was working across sportswear brands Adidas and Reebok at MediaCom, with a focus on cross-border strategies and driving incrementality. I was attracted to Nest because of the expert knowledge the agency had on growing clients through social and scaling their ecommerce. This was something I was interested in and I wanted to be part of a team that focused on making an impact on our client’s revenue as well as being at the front of paid social.
I joined Nest as a Performance Marketing Manager leading the day-to-day strategy of one of Nest’s largest clients Ted Baker. During my time at Nest, I’ve worked on growing the accounts through upper funnel activations and supporting clients’ strategies across multiple markets; the UK, North America and Europe. I was promoted to Senior Performance Marketing Manager, to Head of Delivery, and now to Account Director, where I manage relationships across some of Nest’s biggest fashion advertisers.”

Amabel Phillips
Creative Strategist
“Prior to joining Nest, I came from a much larger agency where I felt more like a number and not an individual. Just a year into my career, I decided that I wanted to work somewhere where I felt valued and where I could grow. I knew that Nest was the one when I had an interview with the CEO. I was very impressed with how involved Will was with his company and with the hiring process. This also showed me that there is a lot of care taken into the hiring process and that everyone that works at Nest is specifically chosen not only for their abilities but also for their character.
I’ve been working at Nest for just under two years now and have been promoted twice. I started off as a Performance Marketing Executive and was promoted to Performance Marketing Manager. Shortly after this, I was promoted again to Creative Strategist in a new team, a role that feels like it was designed specifically for me. I never really looked at myself as a creative person until I started working at Nest, where I had the opportunity to flex my creative muscles in the world of paid social marketing. This promotion made me feel appreciated and valued by the company as everyone had seen something in me that I couldn’t recognise myself – that I am creative.
This new role has had its challenges but I’m enjoying the role nonetheless. I get to work with an array of different clients and I get to work with more of my Nest colleagues.”

Stephanie Terziyski
Paid Media Team Lead
“I joined Nest as a graduate back in January 2020, with a short stint in their first offices before the pandemic hit and we started working from home! I’d never really known about performance marketing before joining Nest, however, I quickly learnt it was a career I was keen to progress in. I love the breadth that marketing offers in terms of analysis, creative ideation – and the chance to get to know experts in the marketing field at big-name ecommerce brands.
I gained a wealth of experience through scaling fashion clients such as ME+EM and Seraphine, in addition to launching international strategies for brands including Spoke and Wild. This really helped build my confidence across paid social and client servicing! In July 2021, I was promoted to performance marketing manager, where I got the opportunity to lead the marketing strategy for fashion clients including RIXO and Crew Clothing.
Over the course of my time here so far, I’ve had the opportunity to work with eleven different clients, initially working with smaller budgets, and I’m now responsible for several times the amount in monthly budgets across my clients!”

Dan Lyttleton
Client Services Director
“I have spent my career working in performance marketing, mostly agency side, working in display, programmatic and paid social for seven years prior to Nest. I also worked with the Nest founders at Nanigans. Moving to Nest was a no-brainer, I was very close with all three founders and had a shared vision of the type of culture and team they wanted to build here. Plus they’re savvy experts with a lot to offer me in terms of learning experience and they have all been mentors to me for over eight years now.
I started as a Head of Delivery and then moved to Client Services Director two years ago when the business saw an uptick. This helped me build skills in team and workflow management, play a vital role in helping to structure the business, support initiatives to better develop our team and culture, and drive customer success. Moving into the CSD role was a challenge – it was a new role and I had to grow with it whilst we adapted it to fit the needs of a fast-growing organisation.
Positioned beneath the founder team, but as a senior leader responsible for the largest part of the organisation has its challenges – especially as a LOT gets routed through me from both up and downward directions. I also interface with all other depts within the org so this gives me an excellent vantage point and position of influence across the biz.
I have worked every position within the ops team throughout my career as I started out as an exec, so I have had experience with all the challenges that the team faces right the way through my career. Whilst I no longer am client/campaign facing this experience serves me well as I’m able to see things from their perspective having gone through this journey myself.”
